Reminiscent of stuffy professors, teen-movie nerds, and, of course, Chandler from Friends, the sweater-vest isthe trend that has won the hearts of malleate people everywhere. Historically, it was one of those items of suit that were "uncool," but it's pearly to say that recent seasons have been a triumph of all things frumpy, with editors and influencers unwrinkled embracing the quirky request of homely knitwear and practical shoes.
I have well and truly fallen for the sweater-vest this season, and I was kindly given a surf oversized iteration from H&M last winter and have worn it constantly over white shirts and surf roll-necks. It's a true layering hero. Personally, I find that the trend looks its weightier when worn in that eclectic Scandi-girl way. Think wavering prints and retro blouses. But there are moreover plenty of influencers wearing theirs with increasingly minimalist, pared-back separates. Just squint at Lydia from @femmeblk, who looks unbelievably elegant with a beige cable-knit number and color-match flares.
Love it or hate it, the sweater-vest is only set to get bigger, and I reckon it'll stick virtually vastitude fall 2022. So get superiority of the prod and scroll lanugo to see six winning sweater-vest outfits that are inspiring my style this season.
